Sporting regulations 2008
Two races – three days of action
Two Formula 3 Euro Series rounds are held per race weekend; each race lasts a maximum of 40 minutes and covers a maximum distance of 110 kilometres. A one-hour practice session and a 30-minute qualifying session crucial for the grid positions for the Saturday round are held on Friday. The Sunday grid is determined by the result of the Saturday race, with the top eight drivers starting in reversed order. On Saturday, the top eight drivers score championship points according to the following system, 10 – 8 – 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1, while only the top six will be rewarded with points in the Sunday round: 6 – 5 – 4 – 3 – 2 – 1 points. The driver who sets the fastest lap time in the qualifying session on Saturday is rewarded with an extra point. In addition to the drivers’ championship, the Formula 3 Euro Series also features rankings for the rookies and the competing teams. And there is the nations’ ranking, offering every driver the chance of scoring points for his home country.
